What is Mercato?
A public reference for the CS2 market. Look up any item and see what it costs across the marketplaces Mercato tracks, how its price has moved, and how it connects to the rest of the economy — the collection it belongs to, the case it drops from, the tournament a sticker came from.
It is read-only by design: Mercato never trades, never holds items or funds, and never acts on your behalf. More about the project.
How does Mercato compare CS2 skin prices?
It mirrors each marketplace’s public offer list on a schedule and stores what it saw, with the time it saw it. Offers quoted in another currency are converted to US dollars at the European Central Bank’s daily reference rate, so every figure on the site is comparable.
The cheapest purchasable offer carries the “Best price” badge. A paid placement can buy a position in the list; it never buys the badge and never changes the price shown.
Which marketplaces does Mercato track?
11 right now, each with a page of its own: Avan.Market, BUFF Market, CSBoard, DMarket, ECOSteam, HaloSkins, Mannco.store, ShadowPay, SkinBaron, SkinPlace, Tradeit. The full list is at Marketplaces.
How often are prices updated?
Each marketplace’s in-stock list is re-read several times an hour, and items that were out of stock are re-checked daily.
Each marketplace’s own page states when Mercato last completed a sweep of it, and every item’s price history is a dated daily record — one point per day, never an interpolation — so you can see how current a figure is.
Where does the item information come from?
From the game’s own files — names, rarities, collections, cases, float ranges, phases and tournament data are all read out of what Valve ships, and refreshed when the game updates. None of it is written by hand, and nothing on an item page is invented: a page says plainly when it knows nothing rather than filling the gap.
What is float value, and what do the wear names mean?
Float is a number between 0 and 1 that the game assigns to a skin when it is created: the lower it is, the less worn the item looks. It never changes. The wear name is the bracket the float falls in:
- Factory New0.00 – 0.07
- Minimal Wear0.07 – 0.15
- Field-Tested0.15 – 0.38
- Well-Worn0.38 – 0.45
- Battle-Scarred0.45 – 1.00
A finish can declare a narrower range of its own, so some skins never exist in every wear. Each item page states the range its own finish declares.
Why does a Doppler have several pages?
Because one name covers several finishes. Steam sells every Doppler phase — Phase 1 to Phase 4, Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl — under a single listing with no phase in the name, and they do not trade at the same price. Mercato gives each one its own page and its own price rather than quoting one figure for all seven.
Can I see what a whole loadout would cost?
Yes — the Loadout Builder adds up the cheapest offer for every slot you fill and also totals it per marketplace, so you can see what buying the set in one place would cost. A build can be shared as a link, and nothing about it is stored on the server.
Can I view a skin in 3D?
On the pages that show a 3D button, yes. The model, the textures and the wear are rendered from the game’s own files, so what you see is what the item looks like in game rather than a photograph of one. Coverage is a growing set, and an item without a button is one Mercato cannot render yet.
Is Mercato free? Do I need an account?
It is free and there is nothing to register for — no payments, no paid tier. Some marketplace links are affiliate links, which is how the site is funded; they never change the price shown or which offer gets the “Best price” badge.
Does Mercato have a public API?
Not today.
